Finally: sunlight! Headed down at low tide to a certain spot on the Gowanus Canal where I've been photographing trash for about a year on slide film, but the tide and the light didn't line up for what I wanted, so I let go of the idea for the day.
Successfully avoided purchasing ice cream, and then fancy tea. I love the endless variety and one upping in the NYC food scene, but I also need the gritty bodega that sells seventy-five cent cans of seltzer to survive. Where else can I crawl into the crevices of reality? I worry that bodegas are carefully being folded out of sight by our insatiable need to be entertained and wowed at every single meal or snack.
Consciously guarding my words of delight while waiting for the real thing: a bird landing on my finger, ocean air at the beach, light in the dusk sky, my girlfriend singing.
